An {orange} future

Standard

Orlando, Florida….

Yep. Sounds pretty cool huh? Disney world, sunshine, beaches & of course oranges are just within arms reach. Well this will be the place we call home in about 8 weeks. (Overwhelmingly excited is a great description of how I feel)

My husband will be transitioning into a new role in his company… for the new role, Florida is where we must make our home.

It is a bittersweet move, both of our immediate families are within 30 minutes of our home in North Carolina. I was born & raised in this amazing state. So to leave behind friends and family will be tough.

I would have never dreamed I would hold the title floridian (ehh, I kind of like it)

So with this huge news, I ask for your prayers & support as we take this new and definitely unexpected path in life.

I must admit the kids are loving when we pack because they get to play around in the big boxes… makes for easy entertainment

For all you Lamb & Ivy customers: I will be taking orders up until we move, so no worries there! The shop will be closed for a week during our move and will reopen once we are settled into our new home.

Oh and June 1 is our target date to move but could be + or – a week of that date.

Much love!
Hannah

a sewing generation

Standard

After browsing through facebook pages that I have liked over the course of 2 years, I ran across a status that I have been thinking about for the past week. “Where did you learn how to sew?” Now to most people this answer brings out absolutely zero emotion. Its a quick, “my mom”, “I took a class” or “by trial and error”.

My Grandmother, Callie, who is known by my family as “Maw-Maw Wyatt” is the most precious, gracious, God-fearing women I may ever meet. As a young girl I can remember so many times watching her put tons of love and hard work into the quilts that she has made. I feel as if I practically grew up under a quilt as she worked on it (I did spend many hours hanging out under them imagining it was a tent) As I turn my mind to all those memories it makes me realize how great of an impact she has had me. Sewing makes me feel relaxed, comfortable, and creative. Much like the feelings I had when I was spending time with my Grandmother.

The first time she sat me down to practice sewing a straight stitch, I was given the story of my Aunt Judy sewing through her finger (so to be very careful) I still remember being scared to death to press that black pedal on the floor and her saying “Just take it slow and always watch the needle…”

Its not really the [coolest] hobby to have as a 25 year old {yeah its ok, I won’t be offended!} However, its something that I love to do!! I am proud to know that my role model in life and one of the most beautiful people God blessed me with taught me how to sew.
